Our technicians are North Carolina approved for Backflow Certification. |
Federal Law mandates that cities must protect their public water systems from contaminants and pollutants. A backflow assembly must be installed on your irrigation system and tested and re-tested periodically by a certified technician to prevent backflow. |
| What is Backflow? The term "backflow" means any unwanted flow of used or non-potable water from any domestic, industrial or institutional piping system into the water distribution system. In other words, it is the "back flow" of water from a pipe line that contains non-potable water (such as your irrigation system) into a line with potable water (such as the city's water supply). This occurs at the cross connection of the two lines and requires a backflow assembly to be installed at the connection point to prevent contamination. Backflow may be caused by numerous specific conditions; but, basically it is caused by the flow from a customer's pressurized system through an unprotected cross-connection, such as an irrigation system without a backflow assembly. Therefore to protect you and your family from possible contaminated drinking water a Backflow Assembly must be installed on your irrigation system and tested periodically by a certified technician. |
